American Airlines plans to begin daily nonstop flights between Miami and Milan in November.
American says the service will let European customers visit a prime U.S. business and leisure destination or catch connecting flights to the Caribbean and Latin America. American operates a hub in Miami.
The airline said Thursday that it will begin selling tickets Sunday for travel beginning Nov. 21.
American, owned by AMR Corp., is the third-largest U.S. airline behind United and Delta. It plans to merge with US Airways Group Inc., which would vault American to the top spot by passenger traffic.
