AA, US Airways Merger Faces Another Review

The proposed merger of American Airlines and US Airways Group Inc. faces another court review.

A bankruptcy judge in New York on Tuesday is scheduled to consider whether to approve the process by which American's creditors would begin voting on parent company AMR's Chapter 11 restructuring plan-- including the merger.

The judge is also expected to rule on a Justice Department objection to a proposed $20 million cash-and-stock severance payment to AMR CEO Tom Horton.

Meanwhile, US Airways has scheduled a shareholder vote on its proposed merger with Fort Worth-based American Airlines.

The meeting is planned July 12 at the New York law firm of Latham & Watkins LLP.
