500 New Jobs Coming to Irving

TEKSystems will be moving into 80,000-square-foot office space in Irving

The governor's office announced Wednesday that a leading provider of information-technology staffing solutions would expand in Irving.

TEKSystems Global Services plans to bring up to 500 jobs to the area.

"It's a huge announcement for us. We're very excited about the deal," said Chris Wallace, president and CEO of the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce. "TEKsystems is one of the nation's largest technology services staffing and communications firm."

Wallace said the IT solution center would fill 80,000 square feet of office space on Freeport Parkway.

"That is one of our target industries," Wallace said. "This is a $4.8 billion capital investment in our city. ... We are seeing the numbers that we were seeing back six to seven years ago in terms of job growth, in terms of capital investment."

TEKsystems has been in Las Colinas for about a decade. About 100 people work from the location and will continue to do so even after the new location opens a few miles away.

"They're here to serve the Fortune 1000 companies that we have here," City Manager Tommy Gonzalez said. "We have several Fortune 500 companies, and it's just a great proving ground for them and it's ripe to just continue to build this kind of business here."

Gonzalez said state-level partnerships led to more than a handful of wins including this expansion deal.

"They have a Texas Enterprise Fund, and so what they do is they tap into that fund in order to kind of get you over the top," he said.

The state is providing $1.1 million through the TEF to close the deal on the new facility and the job creation.

TEKSystems currently employs about 1,600 people throughout the Metroplex.
