Trophy Club Chase Ends in Crash

A crash into a tree ends an early morning chase after just a few blocks

Trophy Club police say a traffic stop turned into a chase and crash early Tuesday morning.

Police said just after 3:30 a.m., an officer tried to pull over a driver when the man took off, then lost control of his car and smashed into a tree at Trophy Club Drive and Avenue 20.

The driver was pinned in the car and police say it took rescue workers 20 minutes to free him.

The man in his mid-20s was taken by CareFlite to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth in serious condition. The Trophy Club Fire Department said the man suffered a badly fractured leg and facial trauma.

Officers are still investigating why he didn't stop, but speculate the car may have been stolen. Police say the driver has a criminal history.
