Police Investigate Death of 1-Year-Old

Dallas police are investigating the death of a 1-year-old child whose body was discovered after a traffic stop.

Police said the driver told officers when they stopped his car in the 4000 block of Singleton Boulevard at about 4:30 p.m. that he had received a call that his 1-year-old son was dead.

Officers followed the driver to the 4300 block Wyoming Street. When they entered the apartment, they found the 1-year-old boy.

Dallas police said the boy's death is being investigated as a homicide. Officers anticipate making an arrest but said they would not immediately release the charges or the name of the suspect.

Police earlier said that investigators were interviewing witnesses. Dallas police also said a woman at the scene was being questioned.

"I've been over here for 14 years, and I pretty much know a lot of people over here, and it hurts everyone when we lose a kid," neighbor Marilynn Franklin said. "When we lose anyone it hurts, you know."

"It breaks my heart to know it's a kid -- a baby. It's sad," she said.

NBC 5's Amanda Guerra contributed to this report.
