Fatal Crash Closes Interstate 30 Near Downtown Dallas

Two lanes of closed highway reopened

Several lanes of westbound Interstate 30 east of Downtown Dallas were closed Thursday morning due to a fatal crash.

Police said a disabled driver with a flat tire was struck by a passing motorist. That driver, a Hispanic male, ran from the crash on foot and is being sought by police.

The female driver of another car swerved to avoid the crash and was killed when she drove into the path of an 18-wheeler.

Other than the fatality, the conditions of the other drivers involved in the crashes are not yet known but one motorist was seen being loaded onto an ambulance.

The crashes closed the westbound lanes of I-30 between North Jim Miller Road and Ferguson Road for several hours Thursday morning, forcing commuters off the heavily-traveled road at S. Buckner Boulevard.

Officials said shortly before 6 a.m. that they do not expect all lanes to reopen for several hours. By 8:30 a.m., two lanes of westbound I-30 had reopened to traffic.
