Dallas Police Involved in Shooting in Pleasant Grove

Dallas police are searching for an untold number of individuals involved in a carjacking and shooting in Pleasant Grove Monday afternoon.

According to police, officers investigating a carjacking found the stolen vehicle not far from Military Parkway and St. Augustine.

A short time later, a number of people, the exact number has not been revealed by police, occupied the vehicle and left the scene.  After driving a short distance, the driver stopped the vehicle on the 3600 block of St. Augustine and everyone exited the vehicle, police said.

Dallas police officer(s) confronted the group, which, according to police, led to an officer firing his weapon and critically injuring a member of the group.  The rest of the group ran from the scene and remain at-large, police said.

The injured person was transported to Baylor Medical Center and, at last check, was listed in critical condition.

No officers have been reported injured.

This is the first officer-involved shooting for Dallas police since a new police went into effect stating that officers involved in shootings must wait 72 hours before writing reports.

Police have not revealed any further information about the at-large carjackers, including a description or how many of them they are, and they have not said if the officers were fired upon.
