4 Injured When SUV Crashes Into Carrollton Home

A sport utility vehicle smashed into a Carrollton home on Thursday afternoon, injuring three people inside and the driver.

Rescuers were called to the home in the 2900 block of Victoria Cove shortly after 3:30 p.m. after the Chevrolet Suburban crashed through a fence and into the back of the residence.

The home backs up to East Rosemeade Parkway, west of the President George W. Bush Turnpike.

A pregnant woman and her two children inside the house were injured by debris. They were transported to Children's Medical Center in Dallas for treatment of cuts and scrapes.

Their names and ages have not been released.

Fernando Martinez, who lived in the house with his sister and her children, told NBC 5 he drove up to the house shortly after the crash.

"Yes, it's scary," Martinez said about the scene. "I'm scared right now, too."

After being extricated from the vehicle, the female driver was transported to Medical City Plano for treatment. She did not appear to be badly injured, Carrollton Police Commander John Singleton said.

"I can imagine it's an incredibly frightening experience for everybody involved," Singleton said.

Fire crews do not know why the woman drove into the house. It is possible the driver had a medical emergency, or the vehicle may have had a mechanical problem, Singleton said.

The driver was going westbound on Rosemeade Parkway before going across a divided road, through a chain-link fence, into a wooded fence and into the home, Singleton said.

A tow truck pulled the SUV out of the house around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, three hours after the crash.

NBC 5's Ben Russell contributed to this report.
