Scoop: Britney to Appear at 30 Rock Tree Lighting

There’s a new stop scheduled for Britney Spears’ comeback tour: Rockefeller Plaza.

Spears will take part in NBC’s Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Dec. 3, a source involved in the planning confirms. (Msnbc.com is joint venture between NBC Universal and Microsoft.)

Whether she’ll perform, or just attend is not certain, “but she will be involved,” says the source.

Spears and Rockefeller Center have some history together: After announcing her split from Kevin Federline on Nov. 8, 2006, Spears was photographed skating at the Rockefeller Center ice rink.

Stall scrawl still irks Scarlett
Remember a few years back, when Lindsay Lohan scrawled a nasty missive about Scarlett Johansson on the wall of a bathroom stall in a New York City nightclub? Neither did we, until Johansson brought it up again.

“I really don’t know that person. I only met her, like, three times,” Johansson told Allure magazine about Lohan.

As for the stall-scrawl incident (which involved words too vulgar to reprint here), Johansson said in the December issue, “I don’t know what the motivation was behind that. I remember it was something really vulgar — I mean, shockingly so, like, ‘Whoa, what, who are you?’”

Johansson most recently appeared in “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” and will appear in “The Spirit” opposite Samuel L. Jackson. The film opens Dec. 25.

Jolie taking over role meant for Cruise
Angelina Jolie might be hoping to “fade away” from acting, but before she does that, she’s got a new project in the works. Jolie confirmed in an interview with BBC radio on Nov. 17 that she'll appear in the espionage thriller “Edwin A. Salt.”

The role was rumored to be going to Tom Cruise. Last August, talk of Jolie taking over the role was shot down by a Cruise source who said “the studio wanted Tom, he never said he'd do it. Saying that Angie ‘took over’ the part just isn't accurate.”

In other Jolie news, Men's Journal caught up with her semi-estranged father Jon Voight for an interview, and Voight, who stars next in “Four Christmases,” told the mag that the one experience he hopes to have before he dies is “to work with my son (James Haven) and Angie again, in a movie. The three of us together. That would be nice.”

While we’re on the topic of Voight, it’s worth mentioning some of Voight’s other interesting revelations, which include the song he says he has to hear once a week.

“‘Climb every Mountain’ is a beautiful statement of philosophy," Voight told the magazine. "Critics may think ‘The Sound of Music’ is saccharine, but I think it's profound.”

He also reminisced about the most cherished possession he ever lost: “I had this stuffed pony when I was a little kid, and I was just athletic enough to throw it on top of a building. I felt terrible... not many people share my excitement for stuffed animals.”

Clooney still not headed to ‘ER’
Now that Nurse Carol Hathaway (Juliana Margulies) is a definite no for a cameo during this last season of “ER,” it seemed fitting to circle back to George Clooney to see if Dr. Doug Ross has plans to serve as Hathaway’s proxy at Cook County Hospital.

According to Clooney's rep Stan Rosenfield, the answer's still no.

“Last I asked him, he knew nothing about it,” says Rosenfield. I guess that means there's still hope?

New flame for Terrence Howard?
Terrence Howard performed at the grand reopening of the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami on Nov. 15 and sparked rumors about a new lady in his life.

“I wrote this song for when I find the right girl,” Howard began. Then, midway through the song, he spotted Victoria’s Secret model Noemie Lenoir in the crowd and started singing directly to her, according to onlookers.

At that point, one source says, “the dance floor cleared and she stood there while he serenaded her. After the set they found each other (and) spent the rest of the night gazing into each other’s eyes and walking hand in hand.”
