Really? Take Your Dog to Work Day?

Today marks Take Your Dog to Work Day

Dogs in the workplace have their benefits to the company’s bottom line. Just ask the Humane Society of the United States and pet insurance company Petplan.

According to the two organizations, employees who bring their canine buddies to work are more productive, efficient, happy, and healthy. Therefore, the HSUS and Petplan commemorate Take Your Dog to Work Day today.

I know, it’s kind of late notice but go pick up the pooch at lunch. That way you can be at least halfway productive, efficient, happy, and healthy.

A little discretion might be wise, though. A dog in the office should be OK providing said dog won’t soil the carpet, chew co-workers’ ankles, hump legs, or steal lunches. A dog on the production line, on the other hand, might lose a tail in a piece of moving machinery. So use your better judgment.

And unlike your boss, it might be a good idea to have a box or baggie of treats handy to give the dog a little bonus from time to time. That way, at least one of you will be rewarded for doing a good job today.
