While Restaurants Go Bust, Used Equipment Sales Boom

College students have known for years to "buy used" and save hundreds on textbooks -- now that motto is driving restaurateurs to take advantage of the rash of closings.

The Dallas Morning News has a great article with Doug Stouffer, the president of RestaurantDealer.com, who resells restaurant equipment he's acquired from closing eateries.

Browsing around the site pulled up heavy discounts on everything from fry cookers to seating options like booths.

For those trying to make an eatery work, the savings can add up.

Jim Hughes, owner of Bread Winners Cafe an Bakery chain, guessed he spends about $30,000 a year on used equipment, according to the DMN's article.
