What You're Doing Tonight: Thursday, July 9

The Arc Angels play, Low performs, and Carlos Alazraqui stands up

STEVIE'S BROTHERS: The Arc Angels are an old-school Texas relic of sorts, if only because drummer Chris Layton was the backbone of Stevie Ray Vaughan's storied rhythm section, Double Trouble. That's reason enough to hit up House of Blues for some barbequed arena rock. With the Krissi Minten Band. 8PM.

SLOW GOING: There are two kinds of listeners. One kind can either love or at least tolerate Low, the Minnesota band who subsists on feedback, quiet two-part harmonies lots of sonic space. The other thinks that music is incredibly boring. Eight albums into their run, Low has managed to inject some pop into the repertoire -- even a few more Christmas songs. The Loft, 8PM.

YO QUIERO HERO: When you pass a Taco Bell, do you think about "Reno 911"'s Deputy James Garcia? The two entities have more in common than being night owls: Carlos Alazraqui plays Garcia and he's probably most famous for voicing the Tex-Mex chain's prized chihuahua. He opens a weeked of his own standup at Hyena's tonight in Dallas. 8:30PM.
