Wakeboarders Find Haven at New Wakepark

New Cowtown Wakepark opens

Wakeboarders across the Metroplex now have a place to go and show off their wakeboarding skills.

The Cowtown Wakepark is located on the banks of the Trinity River just North of Downtown Fort Worth and on Sunday everyone got to try it for free.

Owner Tommy Fambrough says it took four years to build from installing the cable systems to digging out the area for the pond and filling it with water from the Trinity River.

The wakepark is open to anyone age 5 or older, and allows everyone from first-time to experienced riders try not just wakeboarding but also water skiing and kneeboarding.

"You can come out here and you don't have to buy a boat, you don't have to fill that boat with gasoline and you don't even have to have equipment, said Fambrough. "You can come out here get equipment out here, jump on the cable and go. All you need to do is bring your swimsuit."

"I mean this is incredible so, seeing that many, more people getting into wakeboarding makes everything so much better for all of us," said Celebrity World Cable Wakeboard Champion Tom Fooshee who  stopped by to show off his skills on the water.
