Irving seems to have something for everyone in terms of leisure activities, attractions and sites. Irving’s theaters, shopping, sports and outdoor recreation, in addition to providing abundant entertainment for its residents and visitors, provides a valuable source of income for the area. Some of the local sites include:
Irving Arts Center
This large complex, which includes the Main Gallery and the New Talent Gallery, attracts visitors with its large display of both contemporary and traditional art, as well as an outdoor sculpture garden. Theater and concert programs are also held here throughout the year at the Dupree Theater and the Theatre in the Commons.
Center for the Arts – Jaycee Park
The Center for the Arts and Jaycee Park is home to two galleries which are overseen by the Irving Art Association. These galleries, which consist of works by local and regional artists, display different exhibits every month.
The Center for the Arts also teaches art appreciation to adults and older children. Free classes include basic drawing, oil painting, watercolor painting and calligraphy. They also sponsor the Texas & Neighbors Annual Art Competition, the Wildlife Competition and the IAA Membership Competition.
The Mustangs of Las Colinas
As the largest equestrian sculpture in the world, the Mustangs of Las Colinas features bronze mustangs, which move across a granite stream. Built by African wildlife artist Robert Glen, over the course of 7 years, The Mustangs of Las Colinas also includes a free Mustang exhibit.
Thanksgiving Square
A beautiful, non-denominational chapel sits amongst pristine, lush gardens, fountains and a bell tower.
National Scouting Museum
The National Scouting Museum pays tribute to the history of the Boy Scouts of America. This massive facility includes an art gallery, virtual reality adventures, hands-on learning experiences and educational displays which follow the Scouting movement from its inception.
With something for everyone, Irving is a lovely place to begin your search for the ideal new home.
