Today marks an auspicious event for beer drinkers, particularly beer drinkers from Mexico.
Victoria beer, billed as “Mexico’s best-kept secret,” hits Dallas shelves today for the first time in its 145-year history, and what took so long if it’s so good?
Importer Crown Imports will target the local Hispanic market and the general market, which, apparently, consists of people not of Hispanic descent, as customers for the “Vienna-style lager.”
Interesting mix. Wonder if they sell a Mexican-style lager in Vienna? Probably go well with those little sausages.
Seriously, though, it’s good to have a potential option to Mexican beers. Dos Equis Amber is good enough, but finding Tecate in bottles is nearly impossible, and Corona must be Spanish for “Coors.”
Dallas is one of the very few Texas cities to receive shipments of Victoria, and, according to Bill Hackett, president of Crown Imports, “Dallas has a strong Hispanic population, and Hispanics of Mexican descent already know, love, and demand this great brand.”
And let the comments games begin.
