Vehicle Catches Fire on U.S. Highway 75, Shuts Down Soundbound Lanes

All southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 75 from the President George Bush Turnpike to Renner Road have reopened after being closed for several hours Friday due to a crash and vehicle fire.

Plano police said the 18-wheeler struck the median before it caught fire. The truck also hit a support beam for an overpass.

Police said the driver is OK and has only minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved.

Plano police said the gas tank on the truck busted and exploded, causing a massive fire that also scorched the sawdust being carried in the trailer.

To clean up the mess, crews put down sand and other absorbing materials before watering and removing the composition.
