In the December issue, Texas Monthly named the 50 best Mexican restaurants—or Mex-Tex, as they call it—in the state. Out of the 50, 14 call DFW home. Much to our surprise, two of the top five are based here: Cuquita's (Dallas) and Salsa Fuego (Fort Worth). Other Dallas eateries that made the list: Avila's, Cafe San Miguel, Gloria's, Javier's Gourmet Mexicano, Nuevo Leon Mex-Mex, Tipico's, Urban Taco and Veracruz Cafe. In Fort Worth: Benito's, Esperanza's, Lanny's Alta Cocina Mexicana and Paco & John. The issue is currently on newsstands should you like to read the article in its entirety.
