As the weather gets warmer and the days get longer you may find yourself looking for excuses to spend some time outside or on the road. Why not make a quick stop into Fall Creek Vineyards in Tow?
The vineyard was created in 1975 and the winery followed eight years later in 1983.
The winery is 20,000 sq. ft. and sits on 400 acres of land and is surrounded by vineyards on all sides.
Founder Susan Auler tells us spring and summer are spectacular times to visit the vineyard because the vines are just budding.
Susan and her husband Ed, not only own and run the vineyard, they are also the creators of the Texas Hill Country Wine and Food Festival, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
Tow is in the Texas Hill Country and Fall Creek offers an array of wines including, its very own Sauvignon Blanc or Chenin Blanc, which are perfect chilled on a warm day. Or, you if you are a little bolder, the winery offers a Merlot described as soft, smooth with a nice balance of cherry fruit.

In addition to taking a tour of the winery, there are also other events that may take your fancy including a special Mother's Day luncheon.
On Saturday, May 8, you can treat mom to a special menu including arugula salad with strawberries and fennel tossed in a stilton vinaigrette along with Champagne and peppercorn poached salmon. And, if you don't mind getting a little bit down and dirty, there is also the annual grape stomp which takes place on two Saturdays in August.
The winery is tucked away off the main highway on the northwest shores of Lake Buchanan and definitely worth the drive.
