Sundance Square Plaza Landscape Architect Chosen

Vargason Landscape Architects chosen for plaza project

Sundance Square Management has named Virginia-based Michael Vergason Landscape Architects, LTD as the designers of a proposed central plaza, which will be located at the heart of Sundance Square district.

“Michael Vergason’s firm was selected for their skill, sensitivity and versatility in creating outdoor places that serve people and cities. We want the Plaza to be an urban space that can serve many purposes: warm and welcoming at quiet times of the day and full of excitement and life at busy times." said Sundance Square developer Ed Bass in a press release.

The Vergason firm will be in charge of the design of the landscape, hardscape, water features, and lighting of the plaza. The firm has worked on projects both nationally and internationally at places including the National Cathedral in Washington, DC, Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello and Visitor’s Center in Charlottesville, VA and Normandy Visitor’s Center in Normandy, France.

The design process will likely take several months, however Sundance Square plans to release details of the plaza design later in the year. The plaza will be located on Main Street between 3rd & 4th Streets.
