Shopping Spring with Dallas' Stylish Set

Katina Thornton and Cissy Jones are among some of the most sartorially fashionable girls in a town known for its stylish women. Thornton hosted her annual collective Spring trunk show recently at Astleford Design Studio, and we were lucky enough to snag a chance to chat with Jones about her take on this season's aesthetic during the chic, two-day event.

Thornton, a fashion consultant, and Jones, a stylist and designer, brought in luxe pieces from labels like Mark & Estel, Cheryl Dufault, twohelens (Jones' line), Gypsy, Thursday Friday, Miel de Abejas, and Cecelia for the shopping event, and Thornton also featured items from her artisan collections which she imports from Africa.

We coveted most of what we saw, but a few of our favorite items included the long necklaces crafted from vintage perfume bottles and antique wooden pieces by Cheryl Dufault, woven tunics from Ashley Astleford, and the feathery tees and dresses from Los Angeles label Mark & Estel. Jones elaborated on her top choices from the collective of designers at Thornton's event and filled us in on what she'll be wearing this Spring.

What do you think you'll be pulling out of your closet most often this Spring?
"Definitely long skirts! And I'm just really loving the casual vibe for Spring, and I really like all the white and cream shades that are everywhere right now. I'll also be putting on lots of easy, dresses like the ones from Mark & Estel. They are perfect for the insanely hot Dallas weather."

What trends aren't you're favorite this season?
"That's hard, since I like so much of it, but I really hate the dressy tennis shoe trend from Prada right now."

What are your clients asking for this Spring?
"Everyone is on the hunt for the perfect tee and the perfect pair of blowzier, flattering shorts. I'm finding good items from J. Crew and Mark & Estel mostly."

What's new from twohelens this season?
"We're in our third season, and you'll see the influence of the creamy color trend for Spring in the line. We'll be doing a sale in June, and as is always the case, 10 percent of our proceeds go toward the Southwestern Medical Foundation for ALS Research at UT Southwestern. One of the namesakes of the label (TwoHelens is named for Jones' mother and daughter) was diagnosed with ALS in 2005, so the cause is close to my heart."

You can shop Jones' label, twohelens, online, and to connect with Thornton and get the scoop on her upcoming trunk shows, you can find her via her company's Facebook page. Check out today's gallery for a look at the shopping event and a peek at all of our favorite looks.
