At the height of the gas crisis many North Texans were paying up to $100 to fill up their tanks, but not two friends who live in Dallas.
Kaycee Clark and Holly Dear of the Dear Clark Hair Studio, actually ride scooters to work.
"It's a easy way to get around the city, parking is easy, going to the grocery store and to work is also easy," Dear said.
"When I moved here, I really noticed that a lot of my travel was just short distances, like 6 miles or less, and I thought how fun it would be to get a scooter, especially because the weather is usually pretty warm most of the year," Clark added.
They said the scooters have gained them attention.
"It never fails, anytime I'm at a stoplight, somebody rolls their window down and asks me, 'How much do those cost? How many miles per gallon do they get?" Clark said.
In the middle of the summer Dear and Clark said they were spending $4 and getting 100 miles per gallon.
The women said riding their scooters is just one small step that can make a big difference.
"The movement towards green was going on, so it was an effort I could make to be more environmentally friendly," Dear said.
