Police: Man Admits to Murdering Woman After Following Her Home

The suspect was arrested on a separate burglary warrant but voluntarily admitted to being involved in the fatal stabbing

Dallas police have arrested a man who they say admitted to being responsible for the death of Lin Wang.

Wang was stabbed to death after police said she was followed to her apartment last Saturday.

Jeremy Todd Meeks was arrested by the North Central Crime Response Team on Friday on an unrelated burglary warrant and was taken to the Dallas Police Department Homicide Unit to speak with detectives.

During an interview, Meeks waived his Miranda rights and gave a voluntary statement, in which police said he admitted to being involved in the death of Wang and the assault of her roommate.

He also admitted to taking a cellphone from the apartment after the stabbing.

Meeks is being charged with capital murder for Wang’s death.

It's news neighbors in Wang's complex have waited for since her murder one week ago.

"It's a sigh of relief in a lot of ways, but it's still going to take time for that to heal," Rebecca Delflache said.

While she wasn't home at the time, Delflache said she lives directly between the unit the two women moved into recently.

Delflache said she's had trouble sleeping for the past week as she waited for the man responsible to be captured.

Members of Dallas Chinese Fellowship Church are collecting funds for the families of both women, calling them "beloved sisters."

While the roommate's identity has not been released, the church said she's currently recovering from surgery after being stabbed multiple times.
