Police: Irving Officer Shoots Man in Dallas

Police were investigating an officer-involved shooting in Dallas on Tuesday night.

Investigators said an Irving police officer shot a man on Irving Boulevard near Mockingbird while two officers were serving a drug warrant.

Police said the man rammed an Irving SWAT vehicle and tried to run over one of the officers. One of the officers fired several shots at the man, police said.

The man was transported to Parkland Hospital in Dallas. He was in stable condition late Tuesday night and was expected to survive.

Although the shooting happened within Dallas city limits, the incident occurred during an Irving police narcotics operation. Investigators from the Dallas Police Department and the Irving Police Department are investigating the shooting.

The two Irving officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave while the department investigates the incident.
