On Saturday night No Frills Grill in South Arlington will be hosting their 5th Annual Danielle LeBlanc Memorial Benefit Concert in partnership with The Battered Women's Foundation. LeBlanc was killed on Dec. 20, 2005 and her family and friends have since taken up the cause of assisting battered women and children.
Our sister was found murdered on December 20, 2005. Our family lost a daughter, a sister, and a devoted mother. She is only one of the 1,100 women killed each year due to the act of domestic violence. Thousands more are continuously being abused and only a handful of them are seeking the aid of shelters. We need your help in making a difference.
The Battered Women’s Foundation has become an enormous part of our lives. In just four years, our memorial/benefit has impacted numerous women and children and helped to provide them with life changing experiences.
The event starts at 1 p.m. and offers fun for the whole family including raffles, dunk tanks, sno cones, face painting and more. As the sun goes down, the crowd is expected turn more adult, but don't let that stop you from bringing the kids out early for some summer fun.
More than a dozen bands are scheduled to play, including popular DFW acts Velvet Love Box, Spoonfed Tribe and Egress (fronted by former NBC DFW reporter Nigel Wheeler). The music will go all day long until the evening winds down at 2 a.m.
For a small $10 donation you can be admitted to join the fun and frivolity on agenda, though the meaning behind the memorial concert should never be forgotten.
