Neiman Marcus Mystery

Downtown Dallas retailer shrouds Christmas plan in secrecy.

It is not unusual to see scaffolding or construction work going on in downtown Dallas. On Monday people walking by the Neiman Marcus flagship store at the corner of Main and Ervay saw a store all wrapped up.

A call to the retailer revealed teams inside are busy preparing for the store's holiday transformation. The holiday window and tree unveiling will be celebrated on November 20.

This has been a brutal year for the luxury retailer that reported its sales dropped more than six percent from a year ago.

Women's apparel, shoes and men's clothing were the best sellers.

For the quarter ending October 31, sales in stores open at least one year fell 13.7 percent, while total revenue fell 11.9 percent to $869 million from $986 million last year.
