More Testing Granted in Darlie Routier Case

Updated forensic testing will be done on some evidence in the case of a Rowlett woman whose two sons were slain.

The case of death row inmate Darlie Routier went before a federal judge in San Antonio.

The judge will allow testing, using methods not available years ago, of a bloody sock with human hair found near the 1996 crime scene.

The judge also gave permission to run four fingerprints through a national database and do a new analysis of a butcher knife presented at trial as the murder weapon.

Fibers from another knife will also be examined.

The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals earlier this year OK'd testing of some hairs in the case.

Routier was condemned for the killing of her 5-year-old son, Damon. Her 6-year-old son, Devon, also was slain.

Routier contends an unidentified intruder killed the two boys and stabbed her.
