Mikolas Latest Banged Up Rangers Pitcher

The last time Miles Mikolas toed the rubber for the Texas Rangers, he pitched the game of his life in a 2-0 win over the Seattle Mariners. The only problem with that is, it's the last time he pitched, and it was nearly two weeks ago.

His eight-inning, shutout effort saw him throw just 92 pitches, so it wasn't a huge workload by any means, but Mikolas suffered from shoulder soreness after the start and has been taking it easy but stayed off the disabled list.

He received an anti-inflammatory injection in the sore shoulder on Thursday with hopes of returning to the mound this season as he tries to pitch his way into a chance to make the Rangers' 2015 roster, no matter what capacity it might be in.

On the season, Mikolas has a 2-5 record with a 6.44 ERA, but over the course of the month of August, he saw his ERA drop two full runs, so he's been better.
