Go green with NBC DFW and the City of Plano at the Live Green Expo on Saturday, April 16, at Plano Centre!
This free event will have something for the whole family and offers a broad spectrum of information addressing many environmental considerations related to day-to-day living. Some of the themes include education, energy, food & agriculture, green building & remodeling, indoor air quality, lifestyle & recreation, transportation, waste reduction, water and yard & garden.
Among the various demonstrations and exhibits at the Live Green Expo, there will be several guest speakers. Take a tour of an organic vegetable garden and learn how to grow your own fruits, vegetables, herbs and other edible plants the natural way with Howard Garrett, the Dirt Doctor. Jeb Berrier from the documentary Bag It will discuss the consequences of living an overly plasticized lifestyle. Anna Clark will hold a seminar discussing sustainability and the opportunities to change the world at home, work, school, church, and within the community.
While at the Live Green Expo, take the opportunity to learn about urban gardening, water conservation, and energy efficiency. Bring your old and worn-out denim clothes to the Expo to be reused or recycled.
There will be various activities and entertainment for kids throughout the Live Green Expo. Some of the children’s activities will include kite making, arts and crafts, solar car racing, demonstrations, live music and much more.
Don’t forget to bring your bikes to The Bike Zone. A special bike safety course will be set up for your kids to ride through, along with bicycle safety checks and identification engraving.
The Kids Fun Fit area will have your kids playing fun games, running relays, and learning to exercise and eat right. This class will offer strength and cardiovascular conditioning as well as health education.
Several of the demonstrations require registration prior to the event. For more information, visit www.livegreenexpo.net.
