Library patrons who have accumulated overdue fines may bring canned goods or unwrapped toys to the Lancaster Veterans Memorial Library in lieu of paying fines.
The "food fines" and "toy fines" collected will be donated to the Lancaster Outreach Center to assist with their programs to help needy families in the community.
The program runs from November 15 through December 31.
At least one canned good item or toy is required for each separate overdue fine.
Canned goods and toys will not be accepted as payment for lost or damaged materials.
