Lake Search Continues For Missing Students

A search of Richland Chambers Lake is expected to resume today for the body of a 23-year-old Texas A&M University student.

Texas Parks and Wildlife officials say Charles Andrew (Chase) Bergfeld, of Conroe, was the victim of a boating accident when he and nine other college students celebrated the end of the school year.

The Corsicana Daily Sun said the boat sank after it hit a submerged object near a bridge early Saturday morning as the students returned from BullFrogs Restaurant.

Nine of the students made it safely back to shore.

Game Warden Capt. Gary Dugan says searchers will remain on the job until the victim has been recovered.

According to a report on KBTX.com, a Bryan-College Station television station's Web site, five of the students were from Texas A&M University, four were from Blinn, and another from Dallas.

Navarro County Sheriff Les Cotten said Sunday that some of the students had been drinking.
