Lafayette 148 is typically known for feminine attire that's conservatively chic and perfect for taking you from the office to cocktail hour, but the label's Fall collection, while still reflecting a classic aesthetic, has taken a notably fashion forward feel.
Inspired by designer Edward Wilkerson's travels to India, this season's gorgeously embellished pieces include bold outerwear with an artisan-made edge and leather-trimmed cocoon dresses that are among our most coveted wardrobe elements for Fall.
Lucky for us, we got the chance to chat with Wilkerson during his recent trip to Dallas, and we've got the inside scoop on what items in the collection have him obsessed and what influenced him most significantly while creating the current line.
NBCDFW: Personally, what are your favorite pieces from the Fall collection?
Wilkerson: "I feel really strongly about the red fringed blanket coat, the black crepe dress with leather banding around the sleeves. and the double faced leather banded vest."
NBCDFW: You've mentioned the Indian inspiration behind this season's look; what moment in your travels to the country left you truly awestruck?
Wilkerson: "Seeing the Taj Mahal!"
NBCDFW: How do you envision the luxe Fall pieces from Lafayette 148 helping women update their wardrobe for the season ahead?
Wilkerson: "The collection enhances any woman’s wardrobe because the collection is made up of a lot of great items and is incredibly versatile!"
NBCDFW: You're quite a world traveler; have any hot spots in Dallas that you never miss while in town?
Wilkerson: "My 'must-go' is Forty Five Ten! Grange Hall is also so chic, and I love going to Salum and Steel."
