Jason Garrett “Grateful” for Jerry's Confidence

Jerry Jones has been unwavering in his backing of head coach Jason Garrett

In the wake of Jason Garrett’s third 8-8 finish in three full seasons as the Dallas Cowboys head coach, owner Jerry Jones is unwavering in his confidence in his head coach, saying that he made the decision to keep Garrett--win or lose, playoffs or not--weeks ago.

For that, Garrett is grateful.

“I am certainly grateful for the opportunity and the way we show that gratitude is to give everything we got and put it all out there every single day to try to bring home a winner for the Dallas Cowboys,” Garrett said, per the Dallas Morning News. “We’ve worked very hard this year to put ourselves in position to do that. We didn’t get it done. We’re going to go back and we’re going to try to do it again with everything we’ve got.”

Garrett’s gratitude is understandable, considering this statement was delivered on a day when five NFL coaches--Minnesota’s Leslie Frazier, Detroit’s Jim Schwartz, Cleveland’s Rob Chudzinski, Washington’s Mike Shanahan and Tampa Bay’s Greg Schiano--were canned by their respective teams.
