Is Tequila the New Wine? Restaurant Offers Tasting

Lewisville restaurant to host quarterly "tequila dinner"

Not in the mood for a glass of red? Ever wondered what type of drink would go best with your favorite dinner?

Wonder no more -- Cantina Laredo in Lewisville is offering a quarterly tequila tasting. Tequila aficionados -- rejoice!

Though tequila-tasting is not yet as popular as its kin, wine-tasting, it will be hosted in a similar fashion.

A Cantina Laredo company representative will answer guests' questions about tequila. The resident tequila expert will also teach attendees about what types of tequila go best with different foods.

Friday's tasting will feature Milagro tequilas. The four-course meal will be both paired and prepared with different types of Milagro.  The meal will include ceviche tostadas, poblano soup, a shrimp or fish filet entree and grilled bananas prepared in a tequila-caramel sauce.

The tequila will be served straight and in Milagro-infused cocktails with each course.

The reservation-only tasting begins at 7 p.m. on Friday. The cost of the meal is $50 per person -- not bad, considering the value of the liquor alone is $100.
