Hulen Mall Adding Restaurants

Mall hopes chain restaurants will bring shoppers inside

Shoppers at Fort Worth's Hulen Mall will start seeing construction this week on new restaurants outside of the mall.

Fencing is up and one of the main entrances to the mall is now closed as crews start work on three restaurants on the mall's east side.

A BJ's Brewhouse, Abuelo's Mexican Food, and a third future restaurant will be built between Sears and Macy's. A tower presently outside the east entrance will be removed this week and demolition and trenching will also start later this week.

"We've been looking at this project for some time, looking for the timing to be right," said Kevin Davies, Hulen Mall General Manager. "So this has been in the works for a while, and the economy is right and the timing is right now."

Davies said having such sit-down restaurant options should help with business. He believes the new additions will help bring in new stores and be beneficial to those already in the mall.

Construction should be completed by November.
