Grapevine Teen is The Guitar Hero

14-year-old Danny Johnson of Grapevine set the record for the highest score for an individual track on Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

Johnson set the new Guinness World Record in New York. He scored an overwhelming 973,954 points on the game's hardest level (the score to beat was 899,703).

Not only did he pull out the points, he broke the record with 99 percent accuracy.

The winning song, Dragon Force's "Through the Fire and Flames," rocked Johnson to victory and rolled his name into the 2010 Gamer's Edition Guinness Record Book.

Johnson plays several real instruments including piano, drums, saxophone and oboe; but he says Guitar Hero is more about coordination.

Johnson got ready for his record breaking performance by getting a good night's sleep and practicing a bit to warm up his fingers.

Johnson plays Guitar Hero between one and three hours each day, but only after he finishes his homework and music practice.

The teen has advice for wannabe Guitar Hero record breakers, "Only hit the notes you know you can hit at first. Keep practicing and you will just get better and better," Johnson said.
