Dallas firefighters are investigating a large apartment fire in East Dallas, just south of White Rock Lake.
Dallas Fire Rescue (DFR) says more than 30 units were damaged. They managed to contain the fire to one building in the complex.
The fire started just after 3:30 p.m. at The Bluffs of Lakewood Apartments at 7510 East Grand Avenue. Fire investigators believe it spread from the attic down into the third floor and into parts of the second floor.
Close to 100 firefighters were called to the scene to help extinguish the flames.
"Quite a huge fire that we had and we did need that manpower to take it down," said DFR Fire Investigator A. Ponce.
No one was hurt in the fire, but firefighters did rescue two dogs.
"I'm sure he's a little nervous but he's holding up, aren't ya?" said Jennifer Taylor whose Yorkie Playah was rescued safely. "That's all that matters. That's all that matters."
The American Red Cross is assisting the occupants of roughly 35 apartments who lost their homes.
Property managers are finding space for many of those displaced families to stay in other vacant apartments on site, or in sister properties.
