Worth The Drive: Don't Leave This Weekend!

It's a busy weekend in DFW - here's a few ideas to get you started.

We call the series Worth The Drive, but you really shouldn't drive far to have an awesome time this weekend.

First and foremost, your Texas Rangers are in the World Series and play not one, not two, but three home games in Arlington in a row. Of course, we're assuming that they'll win at least one of the two contests in Rangers Ballpark in Arlington this weekend. If you're not there for that, at least be in a sports bar or restaurant with the game on -- or in front of your HD TV.

That other team that plays in Arlington, the Dallas Cowboys, also face off against St. Louis on Rams Sunday. While our Cowboys have looked pretty darn shaky over the last few games, and a win against the Rams should be an easy, especially with their quarterback Sam Bradford in a walking boot. Check out our Blue Star post on the picks for this weekend's game.

Another sport worth watching actually takes place in the air all weekend at the Fort Worth Alliance Airport. The Fort Worth Alliance Air Show will feature dynamic performances in the sky by professionals like the Airmen from the USAF Thunderbirds, advanced jet training aircraft, and various fighter jets. Back on the ground, you can tour the inside of planes, hang out with pilots, and chow down on some festive fair-style food. General parking is a steep $20 per vehicle, but thankfully admission is free to the event itself.

You won't even need a plane to travel the world this weekend for WorldFest 2011 in Addison. NBC 5 will be there to celebrate the diverse cultural communities of DFW at the free festival. We've got you covered on the details of when and where here.

And if food of the world isn't your taste this weekend, the "Keep On Truckin' Fest" will serve local grub in Fort Worth on Saturday night.

Now that you know what to do this weekend, try topping it all off with fright -- there's only two weeks left in the haunted house season. So if you really want to get scared this weekend, we made a list of the area's scariest haunted attractions. We also visited one in Arlington and took a peek at the scares behind a haunted house.
