Disabled Woman Killed in Overnight Fire

Woman, dog believed to be trapped in home, firefighters say.

A disabled woman was killed early Monday morning when a mobile home caught fire in Grand Prairie.

Officials said the home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived at the Thousand Oaks Mobile Home park in the 300 block of Knob Oak Court at about 1:30 a.m.

After firefighters extinguished the blaze, the remains of a woman and a dog were discovered in the rubble. Firefighters said the woman and dog may have been trapped.

"She was probably looking for the dog and became disoriented and got trapped in the bathroom," fire Lt. Randy Willis said.

The woman's name has not been released. Neighbors said the woman had lived in the neighborhood for years.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
