‘Wonder Twins' Make Order of Chaos to Keep Houston Police Fed

Jennifer Do and Dory Fung had no ties to Houston police before Hurricane Harvey.By Wednesday, however, the police force had become their family.The Houston Police Officers Union turned into a distribution center for food and other supplies, including clean underwear, socks and shoes, for Houston police officers after Harvey. Longtime friends Do and Fung zipped around the union's kitchen, sorting trays of food, supervising officers in the kitchen and handing officers snacks as they left for their shifts.Fung, a pastry chef and Do, a Starbucks manager, infused order in a kitchen where officers are known to butt heads. The women tagged each tray with colorful sticky notes, labeling the type of food and when it was brought in so they could keep tabs on what food was too old to serve.  Continue reading...
