Woman Tortured With 12 Siblings Was Frail, Smelly Kid Bullied at Her Fort Worth School, Classmate Says

She smiles sweetly for her school picture, her pin-straight bangs hanging over her forehead like a curtain.The third-grader had "this whimsical optimism" even though other children relentlessly mocked her at Meadowcreek Elementary in Fort Worth, where she was the "cootie kid" of her class, a former classmate recalls. In a viral Facebook post, Taha Muntajibuddin of Houston said he regrets making fun of the girl, who turned out to be the now 29-year-old daughter of David and Louise Turpin, the California couple accused of starving and abusing their 13 children -- even chaining some to their beds.The siblings' long suffering was revealed this month when a 17-year-old girl escaped from the family home near Los Angeles and called police.
