Woman Suspected of Killing South Dallas Barbershop Owner Turns Herself in

A woman suspected of fatally shooting a man at the South Dallas barbershop he owned earlier this month has turned herself in to authorities.Alexis Lavon Bowman, 36, was booked into the Dallas County jail on a murder charge and posted $500,000 bond, court records show.Fredrick Myers, 42, of Fate was found shot around 11:30 a.m. Aug. 10 at the Kingz of Cutz barbershop in the 3100 block of Al Lipscomb Way, police said. He died a short time later at a hospital.Myers' mother, Betty Myers-Davis, told KXAS-TV (NBC5) that Bowman had formerly worked at the barbershop and had come in to ask for money. But after Bowman asked her to leave, she returned with a gun and shot Myers, Myers-Davis said.Jay Vee Burberry, Myer's cousin, told the television station that Myers was trying to protect the people in his shop and "saved their lives by giving up his."Myers was well-known in the community and was always helping people, his family told NBC5."This barbershop meant everything to him," his mother said. "It meant he helped people with jobs, and he would want to keep it open and so we're gonna try to do that."Bowman has been convicted of several misdemeanors in Dallas County, including unlawful carrying of a weapon.Police did not release any additional details about the case.  Continue reading...
