Woman Pleads Guilty in Ennis County Case Involving Drugs, Kidnapping and a Police Shootout

A fifth person has pleaded guilty in an Ennis County case involving cocaine and heroin distribution, a kidnapping attempt and a shootout with police.Melissa Trevino, 23, pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of conspiracy to commit kidnapping, the U.S. attorney's office for the Northern District of Texas announced. She faces up to life in prison and a $250,000 fine at her sentencing in March.Authorities say that Trevino, along with co-defendants Jose Cardenas Aguirre and Javier Martinez, planned to kidnap someone on July 12 because of money owed for cocaine. Aguirre and Martinez were wearing black camouflage and ballistic vests.The trio fled the scene after the kidnapping was unsuccessful, and police were soon in pursuit after responding to a report of a drive-by shooting in the 400 block of Avenue C.  Continue reading...
