Woman Hit, Killed Trying to Cross Road in Arlington, Police Say

A pedestrian was struck by an SUV and killed Monday night while attempting to cross an Arlington street, police said. The woman was found about 9:45 p.m. lying near the roadway in the 2700 block of South Cooper Street, near West Arkansas Lane. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators think she was trying to cross from east to west when the SUV hit her in the middle lane. The woman did not use the crosswalk, police said. No charges are expected to be filed against the driver who stopped and was cooperating with investigators. The Tarrant County medical examiner's office will release the woman's name. The southbound lanes of South Cooper Street were closed Monday evening while investigators remained on scene.  Continue reading...
