Woman Freed After 475 Days in Jail When Evidence Surfaces That She Wasn't Driving Car That Killed Friend

A woman who spent 475 days in jail was released Monday after prosecutors determined she was not responsible for a friend's death in a car crash last year.Prosecutors determined that Saira Rascon Fierro, 21, wasn't behind the wheel when a car lost control and struck a crash barrier on the LBJ Expressway last year in North Dallas. Two people were ejected in the crash, and Teresa DeJesus Mendoza died at the scene.Fierro was arrested on charges of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault, but a mistrial was declared in her case, leading prosecutors to try again last week, WFAA-TV (Channel 8) reported.  Continue reading...
