Woman Fatally Shot After Using Houston-area Officer's Taser on Him

A Houston-area police officer fatally shot a woman after she wrestled his Taser away from him and used it on him Monday night.It happened around 10:30 p.m. in Baytown, about 26 miles east of Houston, when an officer patrolling an apartment complex saw the 45-year-old woman, whom he knew, and discovered she had outstanding warrants, police said.He tried to detain her, but she kept walking and refused to comply with his orders, police said. He then tried to used his Taser, but she knocked it out of his hand, grabbed it and used it on him.The officer then shot at her several times, hitting her at least once in the face, police said.The woman was identified by family members as Pamela Turner, according to Houston television station KPRC.Turner was on medication for mental illness and had previously complained about the officer's treatment of her, her sister told KPRC.The officer tried to render aid after the shooting, Houston television station KTRK reported, but the woman died at the scene.The officer, an 11-year veteran, was treated for minor injuries, police said.Turner had three outstanding warrants, according to KPRC: two for criminal mischief and one for assault.  Continue reading...
