Woman Dies After Falling From Bridge Into Traffic in North Richland Hills

A woman died Tuesday afternoon after falling from a bridge onto the managed toll road in North Richland Hills, police said. Officers were dispatched about 1:15 p.m. to the eastbound managed toll lanes of Loop 820 at Rufe Snow Drive where the 58-year-old North Richland Hills woman had been struck by a sedan, police said. Witnesses reported seeing the woman climb over the side of the Rufe Snow Drive bridge and hang for a short period of time before falling into traffic, police said. The Tarrant County medical examiner will rule on the cause of death, however, suicide is a probable cause, police said. The driver who struck the woman is not expected to be charged. Drug or alcohol impairment was not a factor. Both toll lanes and general lanes of eastbound Loop 820 were closed while police secured the scene. The 7 miles of eastbound TEXpress lanes between Interstate Highway 35 and Precinct Line Road remained closed until about 3:50 p.m.  Continue reading...
