Why Texas Has to Update Its Idea of a Business-friendly State

Winning isn’t inevitable, not even in Texas.It’s necessary to state the obvious because some important people may not have absorbed the lessons of the bathroom bill debate in Austin.Earlier this year, scores of business leaders went public to oppose a bill requiring transgender Texans to use bathrooms based on their birth certificate. Such a discriminatory law would target a vulnerable population and damage recruiting and tourism, they said.Their efforts stopped the bill despite support from Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov.
