Why Dallas New Police Chief's Built-in Bond With Her Sorority and HBCU Is So Important

ICYMI: Dallas' first female police chief is a member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority and has some not-too-far-from -Texas ties as a graduate of Grambling State University. The large contingent of Dallas Deltas and Grambling grads no doubt will quickly make U. Renee Hall feel right at home. The Delta sisterhood dates back to 1913 and is part of the Divine Nine, a group of five black fraternities and four black sororities whose members' commitment to service benefits communities long after college. Its members include the late civil rights activist Dorothy Height; former U.S. Surgeon General Regina Benjamin; and Maj. Gen.
