Who Will Be the Top Dallas Dog Catcher? Finalists Will Interview This Week

Dallas city leaders are on the hunt for a top dog to lead the long-beleaguered Dallas Animal Services department.Six candidates -- including the current interim leader, Police Maj. Barbara Hobbs -- will interview for the director job next week at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library. The job of running the city's shelter and animal control efforts has become increasingly visible and consequential in recent years as officials fight a loose-dog epidemic that has left some southern Dallas residents fearful of going outside without a blunt object in hand.The director will report to Community Services Chief Nadia Chandler Hardy, who said she is "looking for someone who can really take that department to the next level."  Continue reading...
