Who Wants to Serve on the Dallas School Board for Two-ish Months?

The Dallas school board is now taking applications to appoint a trustee representing the Pleasant Grove area after formally accepting the resignation of Jaime Resendez.Applications for the remaining few months left on the District 4 seat will be taken until 5 p.m. on Feb. 19. Trustees hope to interview and appoint the new trustee on March 4. But the appointment would potentially only be for two months. The regular election for that seat is May 4. The newly elected trustee would be sworn in that month, barring any runoff that could extend the time. Resendez resigned from the board after concerns arose that he moved into a home a few blocks outside of the District 4 area he was elected to represent. Last week, Resendez issued a statement saying he could legally continue to serve but that he was stepping down amid the concerns.
